Why CrossFit 46038 and Revival Fitness Are Different

We are not your typical gym. You will not find fancy machines, mirrors, or a juice bar. What you will find is all of the tools and coaching necessary to build an elite level of fitness for each athlete that walks through our doors. Weight machines isolate muscle groups and do not lead to a functional level of fitness. While they are beneficial and they do have their place in the fitness industry, we find that they are not practical and functional for everyday life. True fitness is having competence in all of the general physical skills listed below. Mastery in one while having deficits in others shows gaps in our overall fitness.

General physical skills – Real fitness is defined by competence in each of these ten skills:

  • Cardiovascular endurance
  • Stamina
  • Strength
  • Flexibility
  • Power
  • Speed
  • Coordination
  • Agility
  • Balance
  • Accuracy

Metabolic engines (your energy systems) – Providing energy for all human action. Total fitness requires competency and training in each of these engines:

1. Phosphagen engine (anaerobic) – dominates the highest powered activities (those that last less than 10 seconds.)
2. Glycolytic engine (anaerobic) – dominates moderate powered activities (those that last up to several minutes.)
3. Oxidative engine (aerobic) – dominates low-powered
activities that last in excess of several minutes.

Workout times vary from day to day in order to train these metabolic pathways. Strength training is nearly an everyday part of our programming. Monday you may have a 10 min workout, Tuesday 6 minutes, Wednesday 20 minutes, Thursday 2 minute intervals, Friday all strength training as an example. If an athlete is consistent over the course of 3,6,12 months they should see marked improvement as we track our workouts from day to day.
