Why CrossFit HSE and Revival Fitness Are Different

We are not your typical gym. You will not find fancy machines, mirrors, or a juice bar. What you will find is all of the tools and coaching necessary to build an elite level of fitness for each athlete that walks through our doors. Weight machines isolate muscle groups and do not lead to a functional level of fitness. While they are beneficial and they do have their place in the fitness industry, we find that they are not practical and functional for everyday life. True fitness is having competence in all of the general physical skills listed below. Mastery in one while having deficits in others shows gaps in our overall fitness.

General physical skills – Real fitness is defined by competence in each of these ten skills:

  • Cardiovascular endurance
  • Stamina
  • Strength
  • Flexibility
  • Power
  • Speed
  • Coordination
  • Agility
  • Balance
  • Accuracy

Metabolic engines (your energy systems) – Providing energy for all human action. Total fitness requires competency and training in each of these engines:

1. Phosphagen engine (anaerobic) – dominates the highest powered activities (those that last less than 10 seconds.)
2. Glycolytic engine (anaerobic) – dominates moderate powered activities (those that last up to several minutes.)
3. Oxidative engine (aerobic) – dominates low-powered
activities that last in excess of several minutes.

Workout times vary from day to day in order to train these metabolic pathways. Strength training is nearly an everyday part of our programming. Monday you may have a 10 min workout, Tuesday 6 minutes, Wednesday 20 minutes, Thursday 2 minute intervals, Friday all strength training as an example. If an athlete is consistent over the course of 3,6,12 months they should see marked improvement as we track our workouts from day to day.

Great coaching, great workouts, great people- Revival is the CrossFit gym to join! I have been to several CrossFit gyms in Indiana and this is the best experience I have had. I go at my lunch hour during the week. Have been a member for about 5 months and I have been doing CrossFit for 3+ years. Highly recommended!

This is a fantastic gym. The coaches really prioritize you and your progress. That helps to foster an already positive atmosphere and keep you enthused about coming. I’ve been a member of several gyms and I know it’s extremely hard to find a quality place like this.

Bryan and Missy are great gym owners and great people in general. The gym offers a non-competitive atmosphere but also pushes you to get the most out of your workouts.

The coaching staff is knowledgeable and will make the workout challenging regardless of skill level.

Great people that will push you and make it a fun day at the gym. The coaches are well educated and help you achieve what you are working towards. As a person with a disability (below knee amputee) I felt any type of high intensity training would cause more issues than what it was worth. Well all I can say is how thankful I am to have met Brian and Missy during their Revival Fitness 6-Week Challenge. Their willingness to work with me and show me endless ways to modify their workouts and still greatly benefit from them, has dramatically changed my life. 30 pounds later I’m still going and they are still patiently showing me ways to achieve limitless goals despite my limitations. Wish I could add more stars to this review !!!!

I dropped in a couple of times at Revival and I highly recommend it! The coaches, Bryan and Missy, are extremely knowledgeable, caring, and are truly interested in helping you improve. The community is also very friendly and encouraging. Will definitely be coming back in the future!
